Connecticut libraries are town-by-town, but the statewide borrowIT CT program lets any resident use their home library card to borrow physical items at 191 public libraries. Ebooks are the catch: Libby access stays tied to your home library's consortium, so extra Connecticut Libby catalogs are hard to unlock unless you live, work, or otherwise qualify for a card in another system's town.
Three big shared catalogs cover most of the state: Bibliomation (60+ mostly small-town libraries, plus cities like Waterbury and Milford), Library Connection (about 30 Hartford-area libraries plus outposts like Groton, Meriden, Torrington, Trumbull, and Wilton), and LION (about 30 shoreline and lower-valley libraries). One card from any member unlocks that whole consortium's collection. The independents are the trophies: Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, and the wealthy Fairfield County libraries (Greenwich, Stamford's Ferguson, Westport, Darien, New Canaan, and more) each run their own Libby collection.
